Armenian sheep exported only to Iran, says deputy minister

Iran now appears to be the only market that consumes sheep from Armenia, according to Grisha Baghyan, a deputy minister of agriculture.

At a news conference on Wednesday, Baghiyan said Armenia currently exports sheep only to Iran, though the volumes of such export are expected to increase.

«We must be happy for having joined the foreign market.Formerly, Syria was our market but the political processes have prevented the transportation of sheep to the country,» he noted.

Baghyan denied the Georgian media reports that Armenian sheep are transported to Georgia to be flown to other countries.

Speaking of imports he said only small cattle are brought to Armenia with the purpose of developing the live stock.
